PRODUCT REVIEW: BioLite Dash 450 Headlamp
As we run into diminishing daylight hours, headlamps become essential for working triathletes squeezing training in on both ends of the day. They serve two functions, seeing where you're going and being seen.
The Biolite Dash 450 provides both, splashing a strong light from a small front interface. It also has a bigger rear light. I was worried initially that the back light might be too bulky (it contains the battery) but the strap holds everything in place and you don't notice the weight at all when it's at the back. The strap is thin but comfortable and while it has no sweat absorbing properties, anything that thin would probably just saturate quickly anyways.
There are 6 different light variations (dimming, flood, strobe, red/white...) at the front and 3 at the back which is probably too many and it's a little annoying clicking through them all to find your preferred setting. I do like the security of a rear light for street running and was impressed with how comfortable that was. The battery life seems pretty good and charging is a simple USB-C situation.
The Biolite Dash 450 headlamp retails at a reasonable $69.95.
