Why triathlon?

"What I love about triathlons is I never get bored! There is always something I can work on. Triathletes are supportive, passionate, and fun people with the right amount of both geeky and cool! I belong to a few different micro-tri communities (friends, Facebook groups, this squad, etc) and it keeps me going all year round. I also love the independence of being a triathlete. I can do my own thing (within reason, following my coach's guidance of course ;)  and as long as I'm having fun, not getting injured, and pushing myself - I consider myself successful!

I love being in and near water, whether it's the ocean, river, or a lake or a pond on the east coast...anytime I'm near water I'm drawn to it. Training for triathlons ensures that I get myself into water a LOT. And I have been an avid biker (mtn and road) since my teens. Honestly, I don't love distance running but it's part of the sport...so I do it... ; ) and it's how I became close with my dear friend Diane, so I started associating running with high-quality girlfriend time. I'm hooked. Triathlons are just a combo of everything I love!"
